Perry's Mill, is an ongoing series of color images I began in late 2013. It stems from Abrupt Endings, a project that depicts through self portraiture states of mind following the end of a relationship. For Abrupt Endings, I worked in black and white to convey a strong sense of emotion – melancholy, strength and isolation after a loss – all the while discovering and celebrating my newly found self through contemplative, introspective images.

For Perry's Mill, my first color series, I explored a tranquil landscape where a prior relationship flourished, a place with lovely memories etched in the land. Strong trees, twisted vines, delicate saplings, the images speak to the complexities and fragile beauties of kinship. Through metaphor they bespeak to the strength and resiliency of the human spirit.
